5 Biggest Sports Stadiums of the World

Rungrado May Day Stadium (May 1, 1989, Capacity 150,000)World’s biggest sports stadium is located in Pyongyang, the capital city of North Korea. Mostly used for football while other different festivals are also celebrated in this famous stadium including Arirang (Arirang mean beautiful, a famous Korean folk song). 150,000 people can sit on its total 207,000 m² floor space.
Yuva Bharati Krirangan (1984, Capacity 120,000)
2nd biggest sports stadium is located in Bidhannagar, Kolkata, West Bengal. Yuva Bharati Kriranga stadium is spread over an area of 76.40 acres. 120,000 people can watch football or athletics at the same time. The stadium was used to held different games and festivals including 3rd South Asian Federation (SAF) games in 1987.
Beaver Stadium (September 17, 1960, Capacity 110,753)
Beaver stadium was abnegated on 17th Sep, 1960 with an estimated capacity of 46,284. Since 1960, the stadium is expended eight times till 2008; capacity is increased to 107,282. The highest attendance was recorded in 2004 when 110,753 people were present in the stadium.
Michigan Stadium (1927, Capacity 106,201)
Michigan stadium is 4rth biggest sports stadium with sitting capacity of 106,201. It is used to play American football and graduation ceremonies of university of Michigan are also held in this stadium. Major renovation is taking place with the estimate cost of $226 million dollars estimated be completed in 2010.
Estadio Azteca (1961, Capacity 105,000)
World’s 5th biggest sports stadium is located in Mexico City, Mexico. 260 million Mexican pesos were spent to construct that football stadium. Estadio Azteca has the history to host famous football events including 1968 Summer Olympics, 1970 FIFA World Cup, 1986 FIFA World Cup.
